Vilification of Oppressed In Horror Movies

In horror movies, vilification of the oppressed becomes a common thing. Always the white people are the victim. If there’s a demon the house is definitely on the indigenous graveyard, if there’s a djin it comes from an Islamic ritual, if it’s a curse must be a raped and a killed Japanese woman, if it’s black magic must be done by the black person doing voodo. The list goes on and on.

Vilification of victims is such a common thing in Hollywood and in Bengali horror literature, and Bollywood movies that we almost grew up believing that American native people are bad, women who are victims of rape bad, black people bad, non-brahmin people are bad, jews are bad. We start to believe white people are the real victims, only savarna men are the real victim. If you see Japanese cult horror films every ghost, even in their folk tales like Kochi sake una, or scissor woman, every horrible ghost is a victim woman.

And which women, if you learn their stories these are women who were raped, tortured, husband chopped of the face because they were too pretty, janitor raped a kid in school, insecure husband killed wife for writing about some ex-lover in her diary. In cult Hollywood movies white victims are tormented by indigenous devils because their houses were made on their sacred graveyard. Well, the answer is right there, white people snatched their land not even their resting place was left alone with respect. If you read what American white people did to indigenous people is the real horror, no ghost or devil can do that those disgusting things that mere humans did.

Same with dybbuk box. I once read what nazi officers used to do in those camps before killing, what type of tortures were happening, I puked for days and fell sick. No ghost or demon was doing that, humans, white men were doing that.

So people who lost their everything lives, and were fueled with pain and rage create that dybbuk box myth to feel a little bit of power in them. And what white people did is to play the victim again, and model jew and evil jew categories. I remember when I watched the film where 1st-time dybbuk box was mentioned my friend said oh god these people are so evil they deserved to gas chambered.

It shook the core of me, that oh my god! this is what this film wants us to feel, this is the actual message of this film. At any time in a white movie film black magic comes into play it’s voodoo. Christians mainly white Christians think that any religion other than them is blasphemy and evil so whodo and voodo are legit African religions that they never cared to know.

And it’s always done by some selfish slave, I mean come on selfish slave. We who have the education know that there’s no type of torture that white people did not do on slaves and even last week we had black hate-crime victims in America. When I was a kid I really used to think black people are scary because if you mess with them they will do voodo on you. Can we blame a kid for having this thought! tell me how many movies you have seen which go with this theme.

In Bengali literature, we got ghosts like shakchunni, petni, whose backstory was a lower caste pregnant women or upper caste child brides burnt alive in husbands pyre. And we think ghosts are horrible, but not the people who are able to burn humans alive, let’s not even talk about child rape happening these times. And in these stories, every story a bamun with poite saves the day. I can’t remember which ghost story in Bengali I read where “aj poite chilo bole beche gele” type line wasn’t written.

Have you noticed that why in every horror movie people who have sex or women who are so-called “slutty” die first? Have you noticed in Raaz Dino Morea’s character is not in jail even after rape and murder. and yes having a sexual relationship with someone with a cognitive disorder who can’t make decisions for themselves is rape? in that movie, Malini’s character ran away from a mental asylum and he knew it still persued it? Killed the woman later but a pativrata wife saved and enabled his ass.

In Japanese movies, most ghosts are in school uniform only to foreshadow the huge pedophilic media and prostitution industry japan has. How we actually hate female victims and make them evil Takashi Mikee made the best movies mocking this. The more horror you watch the horror of vilification becomes more prominent to you.
